Welcome to my Cheap Domain Name Registrar Review.

You made a wise decision clicking the link to read this Cheap Domain Name Registrar Review to know more about registrars, before you spend your money there.

With all the online registrars, it is good to find out more about domain name registrars before accidentally wasting your money.

It is the way to avoid scams and get to know the real, honest domain name registrars on the internet!

The Best Domain Name Extension

To have a website up and running, you need to have a domain name. The best name to register is with .com extension as these are the most used online.

Of course there are lots more domain name extensions, but the best domain to buy is still with .com as it is the easiest to remember and will fit any online business.

It is important to find a catchy domain name, one that is easy to remember, not too long, and also available for registration.

It will not be easy to find an available domain name, but with time and effort, you can still find good domain names.

As you are looking for a cheap domain name registrar, I won’t waste your time telling about web hosting, website builders, email, and all other unnecessary extra’s.

The only thing that is important with a domain name, is to have WhoisGuard Privacy Protection to prevent spammers from accessing your information to send you lots of spam.

Sometimes it’s better to buy a domain name with one company and web hosting with another company, as prices are very different.

What Is Cheap Domain Name Registrar Review?

In this overview you will find out where to register a domain name and what you’ll have to pay for it, because prices are different every where.

Also, prices will chance from time to time, so next week you could have to pay more or less, or be able to get a nice discount.

Many cheap domain name registrars even have discounts available, but a discount that is available now, might not be available next week.

That’s why you won’t find discounts here because the information would not be correct anymore. If you want to get a discount, you should do a search in Google.

I am also not going to give you tens of domain registrars to make a choice. Here you will only find the 10 most used domain name registrars.

Top Ten Domain Registrars

Domain.com With Domain.com you’ll pay $9.99 for a domain name and $8.99 for privacy protection.

The only info found in the whois database was “REDACTED FOR PRIVACY”, not an email address, only a phone number and live chat on their website.

Godaddy.com GoDaddy is the top domain name registrar for millions of websites, making them the world largest domain name registrar.

Being the largest doesn’t mean they are the best or the cheapest. In fact, there are many things wrong with godaddy that not many people will tell you.

I used them myself but they always try to sell you all kinds of extra’s you don’t need. That made me decide to move my website to another registrar.

To make things worse, I started receiving spam and found out later that godaddy abused my email address. Already one very good reason NOT to use godaddy.

If you look up a domain name with godaddy but don’t buy it, there is a change that godaddy will buy the domain name and sell it for 10 times the price.

They monitor the domain names people are searching for, and if the name is good, but not bought, they will buy it and sell it for profit.

But if you are still interested, a domain name would cost you normally $8.99, but now $2.99 for the first year and the second years (required) is $17.99, not very cheap in the long run.

Privacy protection is gonna cost you $7.99 for personal websites, but if you want it for your business, it suddenly cost you $14.99 for the same protection.

Name.com You can register a domain name for $8.99 but new customers can get it for $7.99 with free privacy protection using the promo code 799NAME.

Namecheap.com At the moment you can register a domain name with namecheap.com for only $0.88 (normally $7.99) but this is not a .com domain.

You will get WhoisGuard Privacy Protection free forever with your domain name registration, what makes it very interesting and much cheaper also.

The renewal price is Namecheap is one of the cheapest for domain name registration, and I have used them all the time.

BlueHost.com With BlueHost you can get a free domain name if you get a hosting account with them for your first year. This will cost you $6.96 each month.

1and1.com 1and1 is more geared towards the brick and mortar business, but can also be used for any online business. The first year will cost you $0.99 but each additional year will cost you $14.99. Private registration is included and they do offer hosting services.

HostGator.com A very popular web host but not cheap with domain registration. A domain will cost you around $15.- while private registration will cost you another $10.-.

Domains.com Here you pay more (=too much) for a domain: $13.95 and privacy will cost you $6.95/year, while Privacy & Business Protection will cost $24.99/year.

Register.com This is a strange domain registrar as they don’t tell you upfront what domain registration will cost you. You have to register first to get the price information. Don’t use this registrar as it seems they have something to hide!

Moniker.com Don’t use this registrar either as I received spam from them several times. I don’t know how they got my email address, but they kept sending me spam.

After checking out the sender from the spamming websites, the registrant happened to be Moniker. Reporting was useless: being the owner of these websites they are not doing anything about it.

I reported them many times for sending spam, by the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) and the UCE (spam@uce.gov) and the spam emails finally stopped.

In case you are interested, a domain will cost you $8.39 and whois privacy is free, but I absolutely do not advise them.

Your Best Choice For Domain Name Registration

Your best option here will be namecheap.com to register your domain name, but you should get web hosting from another provider.

Hosting is a totally different story, you can still get cpanel (=control panel) for your website to build it with HTML, but you should look for a hosting company where you can get WordPress hosting.

If you want to stay up-to-date, you need WordPress as it easier to maintain and will also give you better rankings in the search engine.

As this can fill up another page of information, I will not go further into hosting. You can find out more about WordPress here.

I used Namecheap for my websites, but now I have my domains registered with Wealthy Affiliate, where I get FREE WhoisGuard Privacy Protection and FREE SSL.

SSL (Secure Sockets Lockers) will send the information encrypted to make it safe so you can accept online payments, like with e-commerce websites.

Google prefers websites with SSL above normal websites and this will give an advantage over other websites, meaning higher rankings.
